Activision have recently revealed that the next installment into the ‘Skylanders’ franchise will be Skylanders: Swap Force, a game that will allow players to ‘swap’ body parts of Skylanders figures in an attempt to create a more powerful in-game character.
Skylanders: Swap Force will not only continue the story of the Skylanders universe but it will allow all previous figures to be used in the game, however with the introduction of new figures (and re-made classic’s) players will be able to swap body parts and create a more ‘unique’ character, with Activision promising hundreds of different character combinations available, as Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision, explains:
“With Skylanders, we didn’t just create a beloved new franchise, we actually created an entirely new category that brings the world of physical toys and video games together like never before. And now with Skylanders SWAP Force, we are pushing the genre we created forward with another big innovation: customization, The idea that kids can customize their own characters in the physical world, and have their unique combinations recognized in the virtual world, is an idea as big as the concept of bringing toys to life itself.”
In Addition to the game, 16 brand new SWAP Force figures will be created and released, while a further 32 Skylander figures (16 of which will be re-made fan favourites) will also be made available when the game is launched worldwide later this year.
