Harmonix has today announced that a brand new Rock Band game is heading to the Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network, but this time it won’t require any plastic instruments in order for it to be played.
Harmonix announced the new Rock Band game, entitled Rock Band Blitz on G4TV earlier today and this latest installment into the Rock Band franchise is a downloadable Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network game.
Unlike previous Rock Band games, Rock Band Blitz will be going ‘back to basics’ in which players only have to use the control pad to enjoy the game, meaning that no plastic instruments will be used – in addition to this Rock Band Blitz will be played in a similar way to Rock Band on the PSP, where players have to switch between instruments to keep the song going.
Harmonix have also confirmed that Rock Band Blitz will be a single-player experience only, with no multiplayer options being added – additionally the game will feature 35 brand new songs, with the whole Rock Band back catalogue (including Rock Band Network Songs) being available to download and play in the game, in addition to this players can export the songs from Rock Band Blitz into Rock Band 3.
Rock Band Blitz will be released on to both the Xbox Live Arcade and the Playstation Network later within the year.
